He married Esther Mindell WADE on August 14, 1877, in Eaton Rapids, Michigan. Esther Mindell WADE was born on October 21, 1852, in Tompkins, Michigan. Her father, Uriah Wade, was 33, and her mother, Lucy P. Giles, was 27. She died on June 21, 1928, in Colfax, Michigan, at the age of 75, and was buried at Soper Cemetery in Colfax, Wexford, Michigan.

They had seven children together during their marriage - Herbert Hart, Orbie Wade, Edith Lucy, George Wilson, Ida Mae, Stella Amanda and Willis Oscar.
