When Nehemiah L HURLBUTT was born on February 10, 1821, in Hopewell, New York, his father, Elisha Babcock Hurlbutt, was 30 and his mother, Rhoda Palmer, was 21. He married Amanda A. BRISTOL on September 20, 1846, in Vevay, Michigan. He died on March 19, 1887, in Pine River, Michigan, at the age of 66, and was buried at Oak Grove Cemetery in St Louis, MI.

Amanda A. BRISTOL was born on July 1, 1831, in New York. Her father, Huram Bristol, was 21, and her mother, Nancy Griffin, was 31.  She died on October 30, 1905, in Pine River, Michigan, at the age of 74, and was buried at Oak Grove Cemetery in St Louis, MI.

They had six children together during their marriage: Augusta, Ellen, George Washington, Oscar Eli, Willie, Jessie.
